Regional specialities
Panuchos and salbutes : fried tortillas, with turkey, chicken, lettuce and vinegar onions on the top.
Papadzules : tortillas filled with eggs in a sauce made of pumpkins seeds, covered with tomatoe sauce.
Lime soup : Lime baked in a chicken broth.
Tikinxic : Grilled fish achiote marinated.
Relleno Negro : Turkey and pig meat in a sauce made with recado negro .
Queso relleno : Holland cheese filled with pig meat, olives, almonds and fine herbs.
Cochinita pibil : marinated pig, wrapped in banana leaves and oven baked.

Hotel reservations Make your hotel, transfers and activities reservations in advance, so you will not have to waste time looking for hotels or services once you arrive to your destination. Besides, you will be able to find a better deal the more time in advance you request your reservation . Do not wait till the last minute to plan your holidays! Take your time and enjoy it too!!

Credit Card Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted in most of Quintana Roo hotels and restaurants. However it is a good idea to bring cash to pay in small shops or in areas far from big cities. There are Visa and Mastercard ATMs in malls and banks.
Money Exchange
You can exchange dollars, pounds , euros or yens at the airport or banks, even in some important stores. We recommed you to bring american dollars because they are accepted almost everywhere. Make sure the notes are not damaged or broken. Banks are open from 9am to 4pm.

QUICK FACTS
Water : Most of the hotels have water purification systems, however it's not recommeded to drink it from the tap.
Swim safe :It is important to swim carefully in the oean, particularly in the open water areas of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and the east side of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres; because ocasionaly strong currents and 5ft waves are registered. Keep yourself out of the water if you drink alcohol.
Tips : Tipping is very popular in Mexico, particularly to waiters (10-15%), bell boys, taxi drivers.
Naps : In some parts of Yucatan Peninsula people take traditional naps after lunch (2pm to 4pm).It is very popular in Merida and sorrounding villages, however it is not very much spread in the big touristic towns.
